During a recent run, a bit of free form thinking (free form thinking, a respectable term to use for wildly disconnected thoughts) led me to think that people could be classified as either zamindars or musafirs. Not overly romanticising either word, it broadly meant accumulators versus wanderers.
Accumulators of things, experiences, stories v/s wanderers with not much of a plan.

And while that thought remained baking, I tried translating the words to English and found they lost meaning, that they were somehow lesser that their Hindi/Urdu counterparts.
Is that because my experiences of the Hindi/Urdu words are at a deeper cultural level than of the words ‘landlord’ and ‘traveler’?

Then I told the sensitive chauvinistic groom who was worried about his to-be wife’s earlier lovers:

It doesn’t really matter who came first. The point is to come fecund.
